Jon Rahm dominated on Sunday at Augusta. He was my pick to win all along, but I was a bit in the charcoal grey unsure area as to how it would go down with the wild weather. He battled through it and became victorious.

For some, Rahm-adan was celebrated on Easter.

There likely will be more major championships for Jon. After all, he’s just 28.

Now we focus on golf’s next major championship which is in May (18-21) at the Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York.

And the weather could play a factor there, as well, which could be troublesome, because the course is considered among the toughest in America, even on the finest days of spring.

As an aside, here’s a fun joke about Rochester:

Why is Rochester so windy? Because Syracuse sucks and Buffalo blows.

Heh. Which means it could be blustery during the tourney.

Real quick back to the Masters, three LIV guys – Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson (surprisingly) and Patrick Reed – all finished among the top 7.

But Augusta National is a course those cats (two champs in Mickelson (3 green jackets) and Reed (1)) know having played them for years. Koepka has gotten closer and closer.

Here’s how the official site describes Oak Hill:

Recently restored, Oak Hill Country Club’s East Course will host its fourth PGA Championship in May 2023. Nearly a decade removed from Jason Dufner’s triumph in 2013, a new generation of top players will headline the strongest field in golf.

Dufner won his first major title, back then, in 2013, two strokes ahead of runner-up Jim Furyk.

Does anyone remember Dufner? No offense, bud, but hey, man, you won this tournament.

He’s now ranked 656th in the world rankings. He used to be sixth.

That’s how quickly your golf game can change on ya.

So who wins this next major? My goodness, it’s anyone’s guess.

But the usual suspects are favored and rightfully so.

Let’s take a look at the current odds (as of Monday, April 10)

The odds I’m using here are from FanDuel, which is among our top-rated sports betting sites, including BetMGM and more. Check out all of our reviews of the many great sites you can use to make future wagers on golf and any other sport.

Don’t even think about betting on Tiger Woods. He might take the entire year off to regroup and get healthy.

The two kids I like to win this next one are Cantlay (31 years old) and Schauffele (29). They’re both in their prime and each one is in the top seven of the world rankings.

That’s the sweet spot of winning a major — somewhere between 26 and 36.

You can look it up.

In golf, kids mature and get closer and closer to winning the serious, legacy-lasting big ones.

Max Homa has a couple of years to go. But he’ll win one sooner rather than later.

Bad Masters this year, but I’ll bet he figures it out.

In the meantime, with those odds, get onboard those aforementioned two.

And if it’s Rahm again … we’ll know he’s gonna go down as one of the greatest of all time.

Might already be too late.
