Arkansas Sports Betting Promos

Arkansas is a place that isn’t famous for many things, but it did birth former President Bill Clinton, is home to the Ozarks and has the highest number of Walmarts per capita. Most recently, though, they have legalized sports betting at the state's three casinos. Up until the 5th of March 2022, placing a bet legally was only allowed in person at one of the authorized casinos.

In February 2022 a rule change proposed during the latter stages of 2021 received approval, which then brought the experience online. This makes much more sense in terms of profits, given that online sports betting tends to represent more than 80% of the activity in other states. With this new extension, Arkansas is geared to reach a new paradigm for the market, and Southland Casino Racing became the first operator to launch online sports betting in Arkansas on the 7th of March ‘22.

The big hitters in the sportsbooks world such as DraftKings, FanDuel, or Caesars don’t seem open to doing business with Arkansas’s three casinos due to regulations that limit third-party sportsbooks to no more than 50% of net profits from statewide online sports betting.

Sports betting industry lobbyist and Former Arkansas state lawmaker John Burris representing DraftKings and FanDuel previously made that point to the Arkansas Racing Commission (ARC). 

“If they say no to what we offer, we can’t do business here,” Burris told the ARC, “We just feel like the 50 percent revenue cap requirement keeps us from negotiating in a traditional way that the sports betting companies engage in other states in what is a win-win.”

It wouldn't be far-fetched to learn that in the near future one of these state casinos will launch its own online sportsbook without the assistance of a 3rd party service provider such as the big guns mentioned above.
