Bet on Purdue Big Man to Win 2023 Wooden Award

The men’s college basketball season hasn’t even entered its seventh week, and yet the award for the most outstanding player may already be locked up.
There are tons of hoops games to go, of course – hell, conference play still hasn’t begun – and there’s always a chance of slumps and injuries, but there’s a big fella that’s had such a strong start that the player of the year honor seems like a foregone conclusion.
Which is rare to say mid-December, but here we are and there he is and you can’t miss him.
Before we get to the bet you should absolutely be making today, the odds are courtesy of DraftKings, one of our favorite wagering sites.
But don’t forget about all the other great gambling options and awesome offers available in your state including those from BetMGM, FanDuel, and many more.
Also, be sure to check out our guide to online casinos, from Michigan to New Jersey. You can place all of your college basketball future bets at various sites in several states across the country so shop around for the best bonuses, odds and all the rest.
This looks like it’s going to be one of the most-wide open NCAA Tournaments ever and I’ve already written about two long shots I liked on Nov. 7.
One of those teams (Tennessee) I still believe in and another (Creighton) is looking way overrated.
And I certainly wish I would have suggested putting some money on 11-0 Connecticut (+8000 to win it all at the season’s start) and also the unbeaten (10-0) Purdue Boilermakers (+4500 to cut down the nets) which brings us to my, and likely everyone else’s, Wooden Award pick …
Purdue Center Zach Edey (+150)
Is the Toronto-born Edey a big badass? He is.
How enormous? How does 7-foot-4 and three hundred pounds sound?
In 10 games thus far, all victories – including impressive romps over then-top-10-ranked Gonzaga and Duke – Edey has averaged 22.0 points (seventh best in the nation), 13.7 rebounds (top in the country) and is shooting 61.3 percent from the field.
The next four players in future bets for the prestigious Wooden Award are Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe, last year’s winner, at +1000, Kansas’s Jalen Wilson (+1000) and Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis (+1100) and Gonzaga’s Drew Timme (+1500).
The rest of the players listed at DK are +2000 or longer odds.
All of that is pretty telling.
How Edey’s game equates to the NBA is debatable – Too slow? – but who cares.
This is about his college career.
The last two Wooden Award winners (Tshiebwe and Iowa’s Luka Garza) were centers and I expect it to be three in a row after Edey wins.
It’s his award to lose and I doubt he will.
So jump on the giant Canadian’s bandwagon right now and enjoy the ride.
Winning some dollars or loonies will be fun, eh?
