BetMGM Signs Partnership Deal with Houston Astros as the MLB Continues to Promote Gambling
It was announced earlier this morning that BetMGM, a leading sports betting and iGaming operator, signed an exclusive partnership with the Houston Astros. BetMGM Sportsbook is now the exclusive sports betting partner of the Astros, and this marks MGMs first relationship with a Texas-based sports team.
"The Houston Astros are a monumental addition to our portfolio of strategic partnerships with professional sports teams across the U.S.," said BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt. "The organization's passionate fan base will be key to the growth of BetMGM throughout the South as we look for new ways to engage fans with unique experiences that go beyond the game."
Under the new agreement, BetMGM will now be advertised prominently on the outfield wall at Minute Maid Park, as well as a promotional message behind home plate. Astros fans will also be offered exclusive experiences through the BetMGM rewards program, such as throwing out the first pitch, all expenses paid trips to away games, and more.
Giles Kibbe, Senior Vice President, General Counsel for the Astros, said, "We are looking forward to our partnership with BetMGM. As we continue to strive for new ways to add to the fan experience, this partnership will provide another way for the Astros to engage with our fans."
Sports Betting and the MLB
BetMGM is already the exclusive betting partner of the MLB, but the Astros are only the fifth team in the league to sign a more personalized partnership with the betting conglomerate. The other teams partnered with BetMGM are:
- Boston Red Sox
- Detroit Tigers
- Los Angeles Dodgers
- Washington Nationals
BetMGM is not the only sports betting market making waves in the MLB, though. Caesars Sportsbook just announced its deal with the Chicago White Sox a few days ago, and is already the official sportsbook of the New York Mets (as of April 2022). Caesars Sportsbook is even in the process of opening up a betting kiosk at Citi Field (the home of the Mets) so fans can bet on the game while they are AT the game.
Charlie Blackmon, an outfielder for the Colorado Rockies, signed a personal deal with MaximBet Sportsbook, and was the first active MLB player to do so.
The MLB as a whole is set to gain over $1 billion in projected revenue from legal sports betting–which is something I’m sure is making Pete Rose roll over in his bed (I would say dead but Mr. Rose is very much alive).
BetMGM Sportsbook is one of the most popular books on the market–already finding themselves on the same level as DraftKings and FanDuel, who have been the kings of the market for years.
With both retail and online offerings, BetMGM is currently operating in 23 different states/markets. They also have an online casino that is available in a select number of states. If you’re interested in reading more about the BetMGM Sportsbook, you can check out the BetMGM Review here.
If you use the promo code ODDSSEEKER upon registration, you will receive a risk-free bet of up to $1000. You can even put it on their new best friend, the Astros, for a bit of added gambling luck.
