Although we’re only two months into the 2022-23 MLB Season, it’s never too early to take a look at MVP favorites. Sure, a lot can happen–but oftentimes these early season favorites give bettors a good idea as to who could walk away with the MVP trophy come November. BetMGM Sportsbook is one of the few New Jersey Online Casino apps that offers MLB player futures. BetMGM Promos get refreshed daily, so you’ll always be getting something.
As it stands today, the top three favorites in each league to take home the MVP are:
AL MVP RACE
- Shohei Ohtani +210
- Aaron Judge +350
- Mike Trout +450
NL MVP RACE
- Mookie Betts +350
- Manny Machado +350
- Paul Goldschmidt +800
While the current favorites reflect those players that BetMGM and their oddsmakers feel are most likely to take home the MVP trophy, they are not always the players that receive the most bets. In fact, in BOTH leagues, the player that has so far received the most bets is not even amongst the top three favorites.
According to data provided by BetMGM Sportsbook, Bryce Harper is the lead bet-getter in the NL MVP race, and Luis Robert is the leader in the AL MVP race. Harper (+900) has received 15.1% of all NL MVP future bets on BetMGM, and Robert (+4000) has received 12.7% of all the AL MVP bets.
While they may be the lead favorites amongst the bettors, they are not receiving the highest percentage of the handle. The handle is the total amount of money that has been placed on a certain event–in this case, the MVP race. So while 12.7% of the bets have been on Luis Robert, only 7.2% of the total money bet on the race has gone his way. That crown belongs to Shohei Ohtani in the AL, who has received a whopping 24.7% of the handle. Manny Machado is the cash king in the NL, with 22.9% of the handle going his way.
All in all, here are the top nine bet receivers (with their handle percentage) in both the AL and NL MVP races:
