Breaking Down The World Series Odds at the All-Star Break

We’re officially a bit more than halfway through the 2022 MLB Season and the postseason picture is beginning to take shape. Predicting a World Series win is always tough due to the volatility of the MLB postseason, but what kind of bettors would we be if we didn’t at least try? That’s why I’m here to break down the current odds for the 2022 World Series, as they stand now at the All-Star Break. Here are the top favorites to take home the World Series Trophy in the 2022 MLB Season.

The Favorites
New York Yankees (+325)
The Yankees have the best record in baseball, so it’s no surprise that they’re the odds-on favorite to win the World Series as well. If you’re an OddsSeeker fan, you know I’m a Yankees homer–but at the same time you also know I’m their biggest critic. The Yankees have been great in the first half of the season, and their pitching has been phenomenal. However, if it wasn’t for a dominating series over the Red Sox to close out the first half of the season, I’d be sitting here telling you how the starting pitching is beginning to decline. Luis Severino is back on the Injured List for at least two weeks, and Nestor Cortes is starting to show some holes in his armor in his past eight starts. At the end of the day though, it’s tough to beat the Yankees' hitting, and that’s why they're the odds on favorite. As long as Judge is healthy and continues to hit, they shouldn’t slip from the top of the list anytime soon.
Los Angeles Dodgers (+375)
The Dodgers cruise into the All-Star break with 60 wins of their own, which is four shy of the MLB-leading Yankees. Behind the bats of Freddie Freeman, Trae Turner, Mookie Betts, Will Smith, and Justin Turner, the Dodgers are one of the most feared lineups in the NL. Walker Buehler had bone spurs removed from his elbow in mid-June and is not expected to pitch again for at least four months, but the Dodgers don’t seem to care. Four of their five starts have sub 3.00 ERAs, and each of their starters looks more than capable to lead a postseason charge. If the Dodgers starting staff stays healthy, it’ll be hard to beat the conglomerate of Tyler Anderson (10-1), Tony Gonsolin (11-0), Clayton Kershaw (7-2), and Julio Urias (8-6).
Houston Astros (+450)
The Astros are back on top. As easy as it is to hate the Astros, it’s even easier to respect that they’ve consistently been one of the best teams in baseball. Justin Verlander is well on his way to his third Cy Young award, thanks to his 23-3 record and 1.89 ERA. He’s not the only Astro starter dealing, seeing as how Framber Valdez, Jose Urquidy, Luis Garcia, and Cristian Javier have rounded out an incredible staff. The Astros lineup is also nothing to scoff at, as Jose Altuve, Jeremy Pena, Kyle Tucker, and Yordan Alvarez are all hitters you do not want to face with the game on the line.
New York Mets +700
There’s something special about this Mets team…just watch one game and you’ll see it clear as day. They’re scrappy, they’ve got power, and they’re clutch–and with a pinch of luck, they’ve become one of the scariest teams in the league. Now that the rumors of DeGrom’s return are beginning to pick up steam again, the Mets are definitely worth a look when it comes to the World Series.
