BREAKING: Multiple College Basketball Games Postponed Due to COVID-19 Outbreak
Another COVID-related bombshell has hit the sporting world today as several high-profile NCAA Men’s Basketball games have been canceled or postponed due to COVID-19.
Multiple positive COVID-19 tests within the Ohio State program have forced The CBS Sports Classic matchup between them and Kentucky to be canceled. This news comes just hours after Penn State had to cancel their game against VCU, and Iona had to cancel their matchup at Madison Square Garden against Seton Hall as well.
This would have been a huge opportunity for the Kentucky Wildcats, who are one of the favorites to win it all according to FanDuel, to bolster their record and prove their talent.
Things do not stop there though, as the canceled/postponed game count is now up to nine for the NCAA. The reported scheduling changes are as follows:
- Syracuse vs Lehigh (12/18)
- Syracuse vs Cornell (12/21)
- Ohio State vs Kentucky (12/18)
- Iona vs Seton Hall (12/18)
- UCLA vs UNC (12/18)
- Duke vs Loyola (12/18)
- DePaul vs Northwestern (12/18)
All this news comes just a mere 24 hours after the NFL had their worst COVID-related week of the season, where over 100 players across the entire league entered COVID-19 protocols. The NHL has also been forced to postpone games, and the NBA is dealing with an outbreak of their own as well.
