Everything You Need To Know About The Boston Celtics Heading Into the NBA Finals

Well, the NBA Finals are finally here. On Thursday, June 2nd, the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics are set to tip-off in game one of a seven-game series. The Celtics haven’t made it to the finals since 2009, which is when they lost to the Lakers in seven games. Their last finals win came just two years earlier, when they beat the Lakers 4-2 in the 2007-08 season.
If you think the Celtics can pull it off this year, you can bet on the NBA Finals through any of the New Jersey online gambling sites. If you need a bit more information about this storied franchise before you place your bet though, then you came to the right place.
The first-ever Celtics season came in 1946 in the BAA. They stuck around for the merger as well, and were one of the 17 original NBA teams. They won their first NBA Championship in the 1956-57 season, and lost in the finals the very next year. However, after that loss they went on a Finals winning spree, winning the next 8 finals, and the 11 of the 12 between 1958-1969.
Some of the best players to ever grace the hardwood have worn Celtic green:
- Bill Russell
- Larry Bird
- John Havlicek
- Kevin Garnett
- Paul Pierce
And that’s just to name a few. 36 players in total have been inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame and have played for the Celtics.
Looking to join those 36 are the 14 current Celtics that are just dying to bring home a title. Leading the charge for the Celtics this postseason is Jayson Tatum. The 24-year-old small forward has really stepped his game up this postseason, proving he is not only one of the best youngsters in the game, but one of the best ballers in the game. He’s joined by Jaylen Brown (25) who averaged just over 23 ppg in the regular season. The Celtics surround cast runs very deep too, with Al Horford, Payton Prichard, Derrick White, Grant Williams, and Marcus Smart all contributing in their own right.
This Celtics team looks primed and ready to take home the championship, but they'll have to get through the Golden State Warriors if they want to do so.
