Group B Match #1: USA vs Wales Odds, Best Bets, and Predictions

Soccer fans, assemble. 

It’s been a long four years but the time has finally come–soccer is back on the world’s biggest stage, and this year’s tournament is looking to be better than ever. Why, you ask? Well, because the United States Mens National Team will be competing this time around, after failing to qualify for the 2018 iteration of the tournament. 

The USMNT’s first game will take place next Monday, November 21st at 2:00 PM EST. In their first of three group games, the US will be taking on Wales, followed by a game against England (Friday, November 25th) and Iran (Tuesday, November 29th). 

In order to move on to the next round, the US will probably have to win both the games against Wales and Iran, assuming that the match against England will result in a loss. So, this means that the US will have to get off to a hot start in their debut match in order to really stand any chance. 

We really have no control over whether or not the USMNT will win, though. However, what we do have some control over is how well you can bet on the upcoming match. I’ll be giving out my best bets for the US Men’s first match against Wales here, with odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook. If DraftKings is not available in your area, you can be sure to bet on soccer through any of these other online casinos. 

Best Bet #1: Total Goals OVER 2.5 (+155)

We’ll be starting off our slate with a bet that we’ll probably have to sweat out. The Welsh national team has allowed at least one goal in ten of their last 11 matches, and have scored themselves in 11 of their last 12. However, it’s the Americans that come along and kind of screw this whole bet up. The USMNT’s defense has been pretty strong recently, holding teams scoreless in eight of their last 11 games. Their offense has also been a bit stagnant, laying goose eggs in each of their last two games. 

All that said, the Welsh defense is incredibly flawed so I think the USMNT could easily score at least one. In typical American fashion, the USMNT defense could very easily allow a garbage goal as well. That brings our total to two, and then we just have to find one more goal in a game that will likely be very sloppy. 

As I said, it’ll be a sweat, but who doesn’t love rooting for goals?

Anyway, this leads me beautifully to my next bet…

Best Bet #2: Both Teams to Score No Draw YES (+245)

I already made it clear that I think both teams will net a goal in this one. And since I have the over hitting three, that means I think someone will win. So if my first bet hits, this one is very likely to hit as well (as long as we don’t see a 2-2 tie).

Best Bet #3: USA Moneyline

This is a 100% purely unbiased pick.

Okay, that was a lie. But, I really have a great feeling about this game. This is one of the most exciting USMNTs that we’ve seen in a very long time and one that has tons of European club team experience throughout the starting XI. The US always seems to struggle against European teams, but this new, young wave of American talent seems up for the fight.
