Is Aaron Judge a Jerk? Yankees Star Oozes Confidence During Post-Game Presser

There’s no doubting the fact that Aaron Judge has been the best player on the Yankees all season long. He seems to hit a home run every other game, and every fourth he seems to hit two. All you need to know is the very rudimentary rules of the game, and just one Yankees game will convince you that Judge is the current GOAT.
But when he recognizes it himself, something just feels…off.
“When you’re the best player on the team,” Aaron Judge said in an on-field interview with YES Network following his walk-off home run Sunday afternoon, “how can you not [be confident]?”
Judge is the current favorite to win AL MVP, and is on pace to break Roger Maris’ single Yankee season home run record of 61 (Judge has 28 through 72 games, on pace for 63). Considering there is really no one on the Yankees close to Judge in any offensive statistical category, hearing him recognize his greatness just rubs me the wrong way. Especially after he turned down the Yankees contract extension offer in the offseason, and since he’s only ever played 140+ games in a season twice.
Granted, Judge does have three walk-off hits this season alone already, so if he wants to bask in his glory who am I to stop him. He just better be able to live that hype up throughout the rest of the year, seeing as how we’re not even halfway yet.
