If you were watching Thursday Night Football last night, you were lucky enough to catch a fantastic game between the Los Angeles Chargers and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs managed to come out on top, but it didn’t always appear to be that way. The Chargers held a 10 point lead late into the third quarter, but thanks to a 41-yard bomb by Mahomes AND a 99-yard pick-six by rookie defensive back Jaylen Watson, the Chiefs were able to grab and hold onto the lead, winning 27-24.

While it was a nailbitter down to the end, the real story from Thursday Nights game became Justin Herbert’s apparent rib injury. Herbert underwent x-rays on his chest after the game, and while we still don’t know the full extent of his injury, early reports are indicating that everything is negative. Chargers fans, remember–negative is good.

Well, usually negative is good. Ian Rappaport of NFL Network had this to say regarding Justin Herberts injury:

“A couple of important things here: just because his X-rays are negative, if that is the case, doesn’t mean he’s out of the woods…There is rib cartilage issues, which we’ve seen can actually be more painful. There’s internal injuries, which is obviously the most scary, and we’re not going to know until he goes through a battery of tests today.”

The injury appeared to have happened late in the fourth quarter after Herbert took a big hit from Chiefs defensive end Mike Danna. Herbert was forced to miss only one snap though, and played the rest of the game despite being in obvious pain.

Herbert didn’t let the injury affect him though, scoring a last-minute touchdown to bring the Chargers within 3 with just a minute left. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough, and the Chargers took the L in week 2.

As more news of Justin Herbert’s injury becomes availabe, you can be sure to find updates here at OddsSeeker. He is currently questionable for the start in Week 3, where the Chargers are set to play the Jaguars.
