March Madness 2024: USC Trojans Odds Shift After LeBron’s Son Commits
He’s got the name but does Bronny James have the game?
We’ll soon find out after he begins the impossible task of trying to follow in his famous father’s footsteps.
You may have heard of his dad – a bad dude who goes by LeBron.
Bronny finally picked his school – USC, over Oregon and Ohio State – and it’s already impacting the odds of the Trojans winning the 2024 NCAA championship.
Although it really shouldn’t since Bronny, who’s rated as the No. 19 college prospect in the class of 2023 (ESPN; 19th in 247Sports rankings), may begin the season on the bench – as in sixth man, not stud starter.
The Trojans already have two talented guards on their roster with fifth-year senior Boogie Ellis (17.7 ppg in 2022–23) and five-star freshman Isaiah Collier, the No. 1 overall recruit in the country.
However, Bronny, a 6-foot-3, highly athletic and intelligent combo guard who’s reportedly a demon defensively, will get his minutes. A three-man backcourt should be routine. Put that trio on the floor, along with talented frontcourt players Joshua Morgan and Vincent Iwuchukwu, and you’re now looking at a top-25 team and Pac-12 conference champion favorite.
But a national title? The men’s basketball program has never won one. It’s way too much to expect. I’d say a Sweet 16 or even an Elite Eight run is the ceiling.
But who cares what I think?
At BetMGM, USC is currently (Monday, May 8) +4000 while at FanDuel the Trojans are +3500.
The shocker? Over at DraftKings, USC is +2000. Half of what they are at BetMGM.
Incredible. That’s why it’s good to shop around.
DK’s Current 2023-24 Championship odds
Michigan State +1800
North Carolina +2200
An even more foolish bet you can make is that USC reaches the Final Four.
The Trojans are at +700 and those are silly-awful odds.
