Ohio State Has Officially Trademarked The Word “The”

No, this isn’t an Onion article. In what can only be described as the biggest “nuts on the table” move in all of history, THE™ Ohio State University has officially trademarked the word “The.” Since this isn’t some bad Saturday Night Live sketch starring Keenan Thompson as Eddie George, someone is really going to have to give me the school's address because I’ve already used the word “The” like four times.
But to Ohio States’ credit, they only have ownership of the word THE, not the word the. So they were at least kind enough to leave “the” for us common folk. But, god forbid your fingers slip and you accidentally tap the caps lock key before you’re writing your blog about “THE” top 5 Raisin brands of all time (Sun-Maid by a mile) then you should expect Urban Meyer to be knocking at your door in the next 3-5 business days.
Trademarking the word “THE” is the baseball equivalent of Marlins’ second baseman Jon Berti. The scrappy guy that’ll hit a bloop single and reach first just in time, not making that big of an immediate splash. But, next thing you know, Berti is on third after stealing both bags on back-to-back pitches, and all of a sudden you’re neck-deep in “THE” debt money.
Ohio State fans must love this. If it makes enough of a splash, it could even lead to some NIL money and a significant change to their football program could be in the cards. If you think that’s how it’ll play out, be sure to bet on Ohio State at any of these Michigan Online Casinos.
