Reflecting on Pennsylvania's Online Casino Market Amidst Heated Senate Race

The Pennsylvania Senate race is coming down to the wire, as Democratic nominee John Fetterman anxiously waits, with the rest of his state, to see who the Republican nominee will be. At the time of this article, celebrity TV Show host Doctor Mehmet Oz is leading the rest of the Republican pack by a slim margin–he only has .2% more of the vote than Dave McCormick.
This heated senate race comes at the same time as a milestone for Pennsylvania Online Casinos. Online casinos and poker rooms in Pennsylvania have surged ahead of one of the biggest neighboring markets, the New Jersey Online Casinos.
“The growth of online casinos has been relentless since the beginning of the pandemic, when it would have been a stretch to think that Pennsylvania would overtake New Jersey as the nation’s largest market,” said Katie Kohler, lead analyst for PlayPennsylvania.
Pennsylvania Online Sportsbooks attracted $536.1 million in wagers in April, 2022, which was 93.6% of the state’s monthly handle.
Online Casino gaming became legal in Pennsylvania back in October 2017. It will be interesting to see how the new Senate elects may impact the Online Casino market in Pennsylvania. All we could hope is that Pennsylvania Online Casinos continue to grow and bring in as much tax revenue as it can.
