The Braves and The Mets are at War: Who Will Come Out On Top?
One of the most exciting storylines for the second half of the season has been the race for the NL East between the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets. The Mets had a massive lead on the East earlier in the season, but the red hot Braves came out of from the All-Star break on fire, winning 28 of their 41 games post-break.
As things stand today, the Mets only have a one-game lead on their divisional rivals, and DraftKings Sportsbook has them as -280 favorites to win the division. The Mets have one of the easiest remaining schedules in all of baseball, playing the Pirates, Cubs, Marlins, Pirates (again), Brewers, Athletics, Braves, and Nationals to close out the season. While that all sounds good, the Mets are coming off of two 7-1 losses at the hands of the Nationals, so if they want to make a statement they’ll have to win the games they’re supposed to win.
All the while, the Braves seem to be winning every night. Their end of the season is a bit tougher, facing the Athletics, Mariners, Giants, Phillies, Nationals, Mets, and Marlins to close it out. However, the Braves have really been the hottest team in baseball since the All-Star break, so will their schedule even matter?
Really, only time will tell. Personally, I think this Mets team has what it takes to not only win the division, but to make it to the World Series. So for my money, I’ll take the -280 on them winning the East. If you want to bet on it yourself, be sure to check out these New Jersey Online Casinos.
