Thursday Night Football Best Bets: Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns
What was probably a much-anticipated matchup when the schedules came out is all of a sudden an absolute stinker of epic proportions. Both the Steelers and Browns managed to win their week one games, but week two brought both teams back to reality. The Browns lost a stunner to the Damn Jets, and the Steelers dropped a nailbiter to the Patriots. And now, the two teams will face off this Thursday night for Amazon Prime’s second installation of Thursday Night Football.

That was probably the worst-case scenario, because now you don’t know whether to fade me, or ride with me. Hopefully, week three will provide some clarity.

Best Bet #1: Under 38.5 Points
With a total like this, they’re just daring you to take the under…and I’ve never bent the knee to the oddsmakers, so here I am accepting their challenge. Neither one of these teams is offensively talented, and both rely heavily on the run game. That means the game clock will run quickly, and the under has a great chance at cashing as a result. It’s also smart to keep in mind that the under has hit in five of the last seven meetings between the Steelers and the Browns, and it’s also hit in each of the Steelers’ last five games, and six of the Browns' last nine.
Best Bet #2: Pittsburgh Steelers +5
The Browns have failed to cover the spread in each of their last eight games as favorites against AFC North teams. While I think it will be the Browns that ultimately come out on top of this one, that’s a trend that is hard to ignore. And due to the (probable) slow nature of the game, I expect lots of field goals and lots of 'close game' before it comes to an end.
Best Bet #3: First Scoring Play Home Field Goal (+265)
I told you, I smell a lot of field goals coming in this game. If you want to play it a bit safer, you can just take the all-encompassing “First Score Method 3-Way Field Goal (+110) but either way, I think it’ll be a safe bet taking this Browns field goal.
