UFC 270: Best Bets and Full Fight Card Predictions

We did it. Gosh Darnnit, we did it. It’s been more than a month since our last numbered UFC card, but in just four days we get our first sip of top-tier 2022 MMA action. Our first PPV of the year comes in the form of a top-heavy card with two Championship fights, supported by a cast of unranked fighters looking to make a name for themselves.

Here are my three best bets for UFC 270, followed by my picks for each fight on the card!

Best Bet #1: Trevin Giles (+110) def Michael Morales (-130)

UFC fans know just how dangerous Trevin Giles can be. He has 3 KO/TKO finishes in the UFC, and before he ran into Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 264 Giles was on a three-fight win streak. He has hands that are rated ‘E’ for ‘Everyone’ and is always a threat when the fight is on its feet.

His opponent, Michael Morales, will be making his UFC debut this Saturday, after first appearing in the UFC world in September of 2021 on Dana White’s Contender Series. Morales won via unanimous decision in that bout, and must have shown Dana White enough to get a shot at the big boys.

This is nothing personal against Morales, but I always air on the side of experience when it comes to fights like this. Trevin Giles is a lot to handle for any fighter, but may prove to be a bit too much for someone making their debut. I expect Giles to get this one done, but it may have to go to the judges in order for him to do so.

Best Bet #2: Ilia Topuria (-510) def Charles Jourdain (+425) VIA KO/TKO

So the method-of-victory odds have yet to be released, but in order to get Topuria at around even money, you’ll have to rely on the KO/TKO. It’s a bit unfair for the UFC to feed Jourdain to Topuria, but the sharks have to eat sometimes.

Topuria is a perfect 3-0 in the UFC, with 3 of his three wins coming via KO. He looked great in his last fight against BJJ expert Ryan Hall, and should have no problem taking care of the streaky Jourdain.

Charles Jourdain has only won three of his last seven, but has never been finished via KO/TKO. I have faith in Topuria to get the job done within the time, so the Round Under may be a play too.

Best Bet #3: Francis Ngannou to win by KO/TKO/DQ (+175) AND/OR Ciryl Gane to win By Decision (+275)

I’ll be completely honest, I have no idea who’s winning this fight. My brain is telling me Gane will just outclass Ngannou, but one solid connection from Ngannou and Gane’s lights will not only go out–they’ll shatter into pieces.

I really think Ngannou’s only chance to win is to knock Gane out. Ngannou has allowed three fights to go to a decision in his career, and he’s lost all three.

But to Gane’s disadvantage, he’s never fought anyone with power even close to Ngannou’s. So, use this as a premise to live bet this fight:

If it’s past the second round, bet Gane.
