UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs Allen Best Bets, Odds, and Predictions

Buckle up, boys and girls–we have an absolute banger on our hands this Saturday night as featherweight contenders Calvin Kattar and Arnold Allen will face off for what could be a #1 contender spot. Kattar is a brawler who loves to throw his body in danger’s direction, all the while swinging his arms like he has frozen turkeys as hands. Allen, on the other hand, is a bit more calculated than Kattar but is still revered as one of the deadliest strikers in the division.
While we’ll all anxiously be waiting for Saturday’s main event, we must remember: there are ten other fights that precede it. So, not only do we have something to watch before we switch the channel over to Paul vs Silva, but we have tons of bets to try and make our halloweekend a good one this year.
So, I have two best bets for you to either ride with or fade for this Saturday night’s card. The odds I’ll be using are provided by DraftKings Sportsbook. If you want to shop around before you place your bets, you can check out these other online sportsbooks.
Best Bet #1: Chase Hooper to win by KO/TKO/DQ (+450)
Here’s a little plus money action to get your betting card started off on a good note. Chase “The Dream” Hooper is set to take on Steve “Mean Machine” Garica in a battle between the bad nicknames on Saturday evening (I mean come on, both of these nicknames stink). Hooper is coming off a TKO victory over Felipe Dias Colares and is a heavy favorite in this fight against Garcia (-295). Hooper, normally known for his submission offense, now has more TKO/KO wins in the UFC (2) than submission wins (1). However, Hooper has never strung together more than one win in the UFC–but I expect that to change on Saturday.
Garcia is a knockout specialist–each of his four last wins has come via KO/TKO. However, he’s never fought a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner as skilled as Chase Hooper. In Hooper’s last fight against Colares, he exhibited how he can use Jiu-Jitsu to open up his opponents on the ground and make them susceptible to ground and pound. Also, since he is such a skilled ground artist, Hooper has a knack for draining the gas tanks of his opponents early, which makes things like ground and pound a lot easier. I’ve got Hooper taking advantage of his newly found striking and ground and pound prowess and finishing Garcia in the third.
Best Bet #2: Arnold Allen (-115) over Calvin Kattar
I touched on it a bit earlier, but I cannot stress enough how electric this main event will be tomorrow night. Allen is straight off his best performance to date, knocking out Dan Hooker in just 2 minutes and 33 seconds back in March 2022. Kattar has not had such luck this year, losing his only other fight in 2022 via a split decision to the very scary Josh Emmett. Despite the decision, many felt that Kattar had done enough to get his hand raised in that one–he outstruck Emmett by 30+ strikes and made it his fourth fight in a row with 100+ strikes landed on his opponent.
Unfortunately for Kattar, he’s going up against a different type of beast here in Arnold Allen. Allen is a very technical striker, and is coming off of what could be the knockout of the year–so I think he’ll be looking to keep that momentum flowing and will come out on top Saturday night in Vegas.
