Week 12 Monday Night Football: Seattle Seahawks vs Washington Football Team Odds, Picks, and Predictions
The Washington Football Team (4-6) will look to keep their stretch of strong play going against the Seattle Seahawks (3-6) in this week’s rendition of Monday Night Football. Washington comes into this game off of a two-game win streak, grabbing a huge upset win against the Buccaneers and a nice away victory against the Panthers. Much of their success is due to the play of their Quarterback Taylor Heinicke, who’s thrown for 462 yards and 4 touchdowns in his last two games.
The Seahawks are writing a completely different story--no longer able to blame injuries, the Seahawks find themselves amidst a two-game losing streak, getting shut-out by the Packers one week and losing to a Colt McCoy-led Cardinals team the next. One step back would show you that the Seahawks have actually lost 5 of their last 6, and are second-to-last in the entire NFL in terms of total offensive yards. Who were once one of the most terrifying teams in all of the NFL, the Seahawks are now only one-point favorites against the Washington Football Team in a game that has upset written all over it.
Like most NFL games, this matchup revolves heavily around the play of the quarterbacks. Will Russel Wilson be able to snap out of his slump? Will Taylor Heinicke continue his streak of out-of-this-world play? Well, with both teams among the bottom three worst passing defenses in the entire NFL, it’s fair to assume the answer to both questions will be yes--so maybe it’s time to look elsewhere.
The Seahawks haven’t had a rusher run for more than 50 yards in four weeks, and seeing as the Football Team have one of the best rushing defenses in the NFL, I don’t expect that to change. However, the Seahawks rush defense is again amongst the worst, so Washington may be able to find success on the ground. That’s why I love Antonio Gibson this week, and expect him to have one of the best games of his season. I love the Antonio Gibson to rush OVER 80 yards (+154) pick, and even have my eyes on him to be an Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+110) as well. If you want a diamond in the rough, Washington’s back-up running back J.D. McKissic currently stands at (+240) to be an anytime touchdown scorer, and seeing how they love to use him on passing downs it may be worth a look.
Another interesting bet this weekend revolves around the Seahawks passing game. Both Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf currently stand at -110 to record over/under 65.5 receiving yards. Throughout the entire season, there has not been one game where both players have recorded over 60 yards, and one of the two receivers has failed to record over 65 yards just a handful of times. Tyler Lockett has appeared to be Russel Wilson’s favorite target since he returned, averaging 8 targets per game in the last three games, compared to Metcalf’s 7. Realistically this seems to be a coin-flip bet, but if you want to ride the trends I would take the Locket Over 65.5 Yards.
If you couldn’t already tell, I love Washington in this game. They’re a hot team playing at home against one of the most stagnant offenses in the entire league--AND I’m getting a point in my favor. The Seahawks haven’t won a road game since Week 4, and have only scored 13 points in their last two games. The Football team have much more to play for as well, seeing as they’re only a game behind of the Eagles and are not completely out of the Wild Card picture. I’ll be taking Washington to win this week, but all in all here is what my card will look like going into tonight’s game:
Washington Moneyline (-110)
Antonio Gibson Over 80 rushing yards (+154)
Antonio Gibson Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+110)
Tyler Locket Over 65.5 Receiving Yards (-110)
DK Metcalf Under 65.5 Receiving Yards (-110)
