Los Angeles Lakers guard Patrick Beverley and guard Russell Westbrook have a checkered past. The rivalry between the two goes back almost ten years now.

In the 2013 playoffs between Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets, Westbrook suffered a torn meniscus after the collision with Beverley. Westbrook was furious because the injury ended his season, and the Thunder lost in the next round to the Memphis Grizzlies swinging NBA championship odds across all betting apps.

Westbrook and Beverley have been in multiple altercations on the basketball court and have regularly exchanged words off the court.

In 2019, Westbrook told ESPN that Beverley had not played great defense, an insult that Beverley took personally, claiming that it hurt his career.

"Pat Bev trick y'all, man, like he playing defense," Westbrook said. "He don't guard nobody, man. It's just running around, doing nothing. ... All that commotion to get 47."

Beverley replied, "Don't start that, don't start that," Beverley told ESPN as he exited the Clippers' locker room. "I don't care about that."

"I was on his ass," Beverley said of his defense on Harden. "I don't know; I’m locked in defensively in our team concepts trying to do anything to get a win."

Now they are both teammates and slated to pay side by side in starting lineup next season if Westbook is not moved, according to Marc Stein.

Beverley replied that he and Westbrook were hungry and to watch them work.

“We [are] excited, and we [are] hungry. Watch us work. Patrick Beverley last season for the Timberwolves averaged 9.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists.
