Yankees Woes Continue As Judge Lands On IL

Well…that didn’t take long. Just 19 games into his nine-year, $360 million contract, Yankees star Aaron Judge has found himself on the 10-day Injured List.
Judge, who had seemingly injured his hand last Wednesday while sliding into third against the Twins, toughed it out and finished the game seemingly unscathed. However, after striking out twice in four innings against the Rangers on Thursday, Judge left the game with some undisclosed discomfort. It would later come out that he is dealing with a hip issue, thus sending him to the 10-day IL.
Sweet.
Judge is now the 13th player the Yankees have on the Injured List, which is made up of stars and starters alike. Just take a look:
- Aaron Judge
- Giancarlo Stanton
- Carlos Rodon
- Luis Severino
- Harrison Bader
- Jonathan Loaisiga
- Josh Donaldson
- Tommy Kahnle
- Lou Trevino
- Frankie Montas
- Scott Effross
- Luis Gil
- Ben Rortvedt
We’re just a few infield players and three starters away from fielding a FULL SQUAD with the Yankees IL alone. I wish I could say the injury bug hasn’t affected the team's performance, but I would only be so lucky.
After dropping three of four games to the Rangers in their most recent series, the Yankees find themselves in a tough spot, winning only three of their last ten games. They are currently tied for last in the AL East, sitting one game over .500 with a 15-14 record.
Yankee fans everywhere are biting their nails–and their fears are represented in Vegas’ odds, as well. DraftKings Sportsbook, who had the Yankees at +800 to win the World Series just two and a half weeks ago, have dropped their odds to +1100. This gives them the eighth-best odds to do it, behind the Braves, Astros, Rays, Dodgers, Blue Jays, Padres, and Mets.
