2022 NFL Playoffs Schedule, Contenders, Betting Sleepers, and Favorites

Tom Brady looked ageless in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' dominant 31-9 victory against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV, and after retaining their entire starting core in free agency, the Buccaneers look to be a legitimate threat to repeat as champions.

Brady's Bucs are favored at +600 to go back to back and cement the most fantastic 40s the National Football League has ever seen.

Through 4 Weeks of the 2021-22 NFL Regular Season, a handful of teams have emerged as legitimate contenders to claim football's most coveted prize: the Vince Lombardi trophy and the title of World Champions at the end of Super Bowl LVI.

The Kansas City Chiefs are off to a sluggish start, managing only two wins in their first four games. Nonetheless, having a generational talent at quarterback counts for a whole lot in the NFL. In fact, despite the Chiefs' middle of the pack record and bottom of the division standings entering Week 5, oddsmakers still have Kansas City as the out-and-out favorites to take home the Larry O'B and claim their second Super Bowl trophy in two years. Apparently, having Patrick Mahomes on your team nullifies not only a mediocre record in one of the National Football League's most competitive divisions but catapults one to +550 favorites to win it all in California.

After a record-smashing rookie season in Los Angeles, Justin Herbert and the Chargers seem determined to add more jewelry to their collection and bathe the most prized gem in Football in the cool California sun long after confetti clouds have rained down on the gorgeous SoFi Stadium. Despite marching out to an impressive 3-1 record four weeks deep into the season, and leading the same division the Kansas City Chiefs are last place in, the LA Chargers' odds look bleak to sit atop football's mountain, at +2100, come February.

Action Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens boast a similarly impressive 3-1 record as we enter Week 5 in the National Football League. After getting the proverbial monkey off their back in a nail-biting 36-35 win over Kansas City on September 20th, Baltimore have the fifth best odds (+1200) to make it three from three in the Big Game and end the 2021-22 NFL Season as World Champions.

Although we're still a long way away from delighting in the greatest spectacle in American sports history, we're about 25% through the Regular Season, and predicting playoff winners is not only fun but it can also make you lots of money when done right!

2022 NFL Playoff Predictions: AFC Contenders & Betting Favorites

    • AFC West Playoff Predictions

    • Kansas City Chiefs (2-2) entering Week 5

'Patrick Mahomes' are the only words you need to know when evaluating the Kansas City Chiefs' chances to win Superbowl LVI. Having future Hall of Famers Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce alongside you, under the guidance of the wizardous Andrew Reid certainly doesn't hurt your hopes either.

Four weeks into the season and the Chiefs are still trotting out a 33.5 point per game offense despite all their run-of-the-mill defense. Mahomes is still Mahomes. The 26-year-old Texan has already poured in 14 touchdowns and is averaging over 300 yards per game as we enter the first week of October.

The Chiefs face a massive challenge on Monday Night Football when they play host to Josh Allen and the fearless Buffalo Bills (3-1 after Week 4, 1-0 Away). It's always a treat when a former MVP in Mahomes, and a prospective one in Allen, face off.

    • AFC North Playoff Predictions

    • Cleveland Browns (3-1) entering Week 5

After squandering a lion-sized lead in an opening night loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns have managed to string together three consecutive victories. Given the quality of the opponent's they've faced thus far, we're likely only going to get a fair assessment of the Browns after the conclusion of the month of October during which they face a pair of phenomenal talents in Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers, and Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals, not to mention the always formidable Von Miller and the Denver Broncos.

For all the chatter about what he lacks, Baker Mayfield can look to a career best 65.5% pass completion percentage as evidence of his improvement despite the chorus of naysayers trying to drown him out. Regardless of the incomparably sized chip he claims to have on his shoulder - should you find yourself sympathetic to his waxing poetic about just how much he's been #doubted and #overlooked as a number one overall Draft pick in the National Football League - there is only one way to feel about his bottom of the barrel 39.8 QBR. A city can achieve the impossible only so many times. Cleveland's defense is it's only hope to do so. Off to a dominant start after four games, Miles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney have totaled 20 quarterback hits and 8.0 sacks to lead the Cleveland Browns to a respectable 3-1 record. The Browns will have to rely on their defense more than anything else if they are to make it further than the Divisional Round in the 2021-22 NFL Playoffs. The oddsmakers have the Cleveland Browns at +1200 for the title of World Champions in the National Football League.

    AFC South Playoff Predictions

Tennessee Titans (2-2) entering Week 5

With each passing week, the Tennessee Titans look ever more likely to run away with the AFC South as the Indianapolis Colts have come out the gates looking flatter than naan bread who have lost three of their opening four fixtures in the 2021-22 NFL Regular Season. Despite an emphatic opening month of offensive football, questions still linger about the quality of their defense, and deservedly so.
The Titans are giving up 27.8 points per game to opposition offenses after only four weeks of regular season football. October matchups with fellow AFC contenders Kansas City and Buffalo should give an accurate depiction of Tennessee's title chances.

A recent loss to the New York Jets, whose performances in the National Football League in the last few years are best described as laughably sordid, illustrates how the Titans still have a ways to go to be considered Super Bowl contenders. Reliably brilliant performances from the sterling quartet of Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry, A.J. Brown, and Julio Jones are all that have kept the Titans hopes alive this season.

And they'll have to hope that remains the case if they are to be the NFL's sole survivors after what promises to be another grueling edition of Playoff Football. They're unlikely to pull it off, oddsmakers give them a +3400 chance at best to take it all home.

    AFC East Playoff Predictions

Buffalo Bills (3-1) entering Week 5

After leading the Buffalo Bills to an impressive three wins - out of a possible four - after a month of football, Josh Allen will be looking to add to his MVP case by dominating former MVP Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the vaunted Arrowhead Stadium. Following a disappointing opening week loss to Big Ben and the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Bills started winning and haven't once looked back. After steamrolling a pair of playoff hopefuls (the Miami Dolphins and the Washington Football Team) by a collective 78-21 margin in Weeks 2 and 3, the Bills made quick work of the recently maligned Houston Texans shutting their water off completely in a 40-0 also shellacking last week. Buffalo's defense has looked every bit as intimidating as their moniker would suggest, the Bills Mafia has been suffocating under the tutelage of Sean McDermott.

Buffalo enters Week 5 with the third best odds to lift the Larry O'Brien trophy at +850, behind only Kansas City and Tampa Bay. No doubt, Josh Allen and the Bills will be looking to avenge their defeat to the Chiefs in last year's AFC Conference Championship Game where they failed to overcome Kansas City's 38 points.

    AFC Wild Card Picks

Los Angeles Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Raiders

It's been north of a decade since a new head coaching hire in the National Football League failed to account for at least one playoff spot in the following season. The 2021-22 NFL season looks no different, as Brandon Staley and the Los Angeles Chargers continue to lift each other to new heights. After a phenomenal showing as Defensive Coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, Staley has the Chargers looking every bit as dominant as any playoff hopeful at this stage of the season.

Simply put: Justin Herbert is that guy.

Fortunately for the Chargers he's not the only guy worthy of mention on their roster. Staley's defensive genius has brought the best out of their best with the likes of the enigmatic Joey Bosa and All-Pro Safety Derwin James in particular, shining in his system. Rookie Corner Asante Samuel Jr. has also enjoyed his football in the opening month of the season, emerging as a noteworthy playmaker in the Chargers defense.

However it shakes out, the Los Angeles Chargers look set for their first playoff appearance since 2018, and their first of the Justin Herbert era.

Jon Gruden and the Las Vegas Raiders are desperate for winter football, having not made the playoffs since 2002. They're 3-1 after Week 4 and may find themselves back in the postseason for the first time in nearly a decade in the AFC Wild Card Game.

Four weeks of football have produced two prime time thrillers from the Baltimore Ravens, and with Lamar Jackson eager to add a second win to his playoff portfolio, look for the Ravens as potential AFC Wild Card winner's who could make it all the Big Game should the dice roll in their favor.

2022 NFL Playoff Predictions: NFC Contenders & Betting Favorites

    NFC West Playoff Predictions

Los Angeles Rams (3-1) entering Week 5

As if staring down the titanic Aaron Donald wasn't enough, opposing defenses now face the mammoth task of containing a Los Angeles Rams offense led by the indomitable Matthew Stafford. It's no surprise that Los Angeles enters Week 5 with the fourth-best odds, at +1000, to take home football's most coveted prize in their very own SoFi Stadium when it's all said and done.

A Week 4 blunder against the Arizona Cardinals at home, may invite further suspicion of this Rams team should they fall to Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football.

    NFC North Playoff Predictions

Green Bay Packers (3-1) entering Week 5

You've heard it all before "father time is undefeated". But no one seems to be beating back the clutches of father time better than the 44-year old in Tampa Bay, and the not quite yet 40-year old in Green Bay.

Both don the iconic #12 jersey at the sport's most hallowed position. Both were named MVPs just last season. Both of them lead teams who are 3-1 after four weeks of football.

Both will be doggedly determined to return to football's grandest stage. Neither of them boast a defense to inspire any hope that sort.

One of them is the greatest quarterback in the history of the National Football League.

Both the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers enter Week 5 with their best football ahead of them.

The Packers +1200 Super Bowl odds are fifth-best in the league, while the Buccaneers' trail only the Chiefs in their odds to go back-to-back at +600.

    NFC South Playoff Predictions

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) entering Week 5

Tom Brady is trying to go back-to-back at age 44.

Thomas Edward Patrick Brady, Jr. is also a man who has known no equal in the National Football League since he was drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round with the 199th-pick in the year 2000.

Expect the Bucs to be a threat. They're among the betting favorites (+600) for a reason.

    NFC East Playoff Predictions

Dallas Cowboys (3-1) entering Week 5

America is buzzing. And, rightfully so.

"The Cowboys are back baby!" Can be heard far and wide all across the country.

Jerry Jones' Dallas Cowboys, so affectionately called America's Team, are off to a rocking start after one month of regular season football.

Dak is in MVP form already, leading the Cowboys to a top-3 offense. Zeke is showing shades of 2018 with the prodigious Pollard beside him. Trevon Diggs has also been a revelation on defense, he leads the league in interceptions with 5 in 4 games.

Dallas enters Week 5 at a +1900 to win Super Bowl LVI.

    NFC Wild Card Picks

Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers

The NFC West is shaping up to be the National Football League's very own Royal Rumble. Between the Rams in Los Angeles, the Seahawks in Seattle, the 49ers in San Francisco, and the Cardinals in Arizona, the division is packed plenty with Super Bowl hopefuls, which makes winning it a suffocating task for everyone involved.

Arizona will certainly fancy their chances. As the last undefeated team in football at 4-0, the Cardinals will be hoping that an MVP-worthy season from Kyler Murray will get them over the edge.

Count on the remainder of the NFC West, the San Francisco 49ers as well as the Seattle Seahawks, to round out the rest of the spots in the Wild Card Game.

    NFC Playoff Sleepers

Divisional Round: Chargers to beat Bills, Ravens to beat Chiefs

AFC Championship Game: Ravens to beat Chargers

    NFC Playoff Predictions

Wild Card Game: Buccaneers to beat 49ers, Cowboys to beat Seahawks, Packers to beat Cardinals

Divisional Round: Rams to beat Packers, Cowboys to beat Buccaneers

NFC Championship Game: Cowboys to beat Rams

    Super Bowl LVI Prediction 2022

Ravens to beat Cowboys, Lamar Jackson to win Super Bowl MVP.

The Baltimore Ravens are a perfect 2-2 in their Super Bowl history, winning titles in both 2001 and 2013.

Expect them to make that 3-3 in the 2021-22 NFL Season.

We're only five weeks into the season, so we'll have to wait and see to know just how prophetic these predictions are.

Regardless of the outcome on the field, there is always an opportunity to win plenty of it, off the field.
