We'll explore the instant win games, slots, and lottery games offered by the platform, and I will cover how to obtain MI Lottery Online's generous welcome bonus. I will also reveal how to withdraw money from the platform, so you'll know exactly what to do if you're a lucky winner.

What Makes Michigan Lottery Online Different From Other Lotteries?

The convenience of purchasing lottery tickets online makes Michigan Lottery Online incredibly convenient. Some states are starting to embrace online lotteries and games, but I live in a state that doesn't seem eager to make the change.

Instead, players have to go to a convenience store or participating supermarket and purchase from an agent or vending machine. However, you can submit your ticket number on the state lottery website to see if you've won. It's frustrating.

The ease of use is just one of the reasons that Michigan's online lottery impresses me. The FAQ section and access to customer service and support options is amazing. Banking options provide a selection of common payment methods.

If you have a winning ticket, a message appears in your account information, which is very convenient. It makes me wish my state would embrace today's technology more than it does.

Should You Play at Michigan Lottery Online?

Yes, I wholeheartedly recommend that people within Michigan's borders embrace the experience to be found at Michigan Lottery Online. If you're worried about overspending on lottery tickets or games, place limits for yourself or play the free-to-play versions, which I found cover a range of themes and game types.

When I take a closer look at any casino, sportsbook, or online lottery, I want to know that it's easy to register, that banking options meet what I feel are most people's preferences, and that it's fun overall. The online lottery met exceeded in each of those categories.

If you're spending time fighting lag or a frozen screen, it's hard to have a good time. The good news is that my experience at Michigan Lottery Online was flawless. I signed up in less than 30 seconds, and the casino's site and emails make you feel valued.

How To Join Michigan Lottery Online

Use our link to access Michigan Lottery Online. Account registration at Michigan Lottery is a simple three-step process starting with “Account Information.”

  1. Enter your email

  2. Create a secure password

  3. Enter a promo code if you have one

Once you’ve submitted that, check your email for the six-digit verification code. You must enter that on the next screen. You’re then prompted to fill in this information:

  • First and Last Name

  • Address

  • City and ZIP

  • The last four digits of your SSN

  • Read and acknowledge the terms and conditions and Responsible Gaming policies

  • Click if you want texts, emails, or both

Make sure you receive the welcome email. If you receive that and get the “Welcome” screen on the lottery, you’re all set.

Michigan Lottery Online Hands-on Review

The State of Michigan launched the Michigan Lottery in 1972. It's a state-run lottery that benefits the lottery agents who sell tickets in their stores, but a larger percentage of the revenues go directly into the education fund. Since 1972, Michigan Lottery has raised more than $28 billion for the schools.

Michigan Lottery Online makes it easy to purchase lottery tickets without going to a store, as long as you are located within Michigan. Discover everything you need to know about Michigan Lottery Online by joining me for my hands-on, in-depth review of the online lottery.

Michigan Lottery's app is available for both iOS and Android. I installed it on my Pixel and took a closer look. The installation went perfectly, and it's very clear that information is never shared with third parties and that you can request to have your data deleted.

The app is nicely laid out with the menu access on the left and the shopping cart showing your pending ticket purchases on the right. Scroll through the games or lotteries and click "Buy Now" if you want to purchase a lottery ticket. Choosing lottery numbers is easy and just requires a tap on the screen. If you want to play games, click "Demo" for a free play version or "Play" to place a bet.

All of the important features, like access to the live chat, FAQs, and support ticket form, are easy to access. Banking is also as convenient as it is on the online lottery.

Would I use the app over the online lottery? Yes, and it's for one main reason. The app has a feature where you can scan the barcode on lottery tickets you purchase from a lottery agent or retailer and see if it's a winner. That alone makes the app incredibly handy.

Is Michigan Lottery Online Legit?

Yes. Michigan Lottery Online is operated by the state government. Wagers made on the games and lotteries go into funds that cover prizes, a Michigan education fund, and commissions to licensed lottery vendors and retailers.

Can You Win Real Money Playing at Michigan Lottery Online?

Yes. Prizes won on Michigan Lottery Online are often easily redeemed online, and smaller prizes are instantly awarded to your account balance. Prizes of $100,000 or greater must be collected from the Michigan Lottery's headquarters in Lansing.

Where Can You Play at Michigan Lottery Online

Players must physically be located in Michigan to purchase lottery tickets or deposit funds. Others can access fun play versions of games with $50 in fun money that resets automatically.

Michigan Lottery Online Lottery Signup bonus

Michigan Lottery Online provides an exciting selection of promotions starting with a signup bonus. You will need to make a deposit first, so this isn't no-deposit welcome bonus by any means, but it still incredibly useful. Plenty more awaits players who've already deposited and used the welcome bonus. Some bonuses are good for the online lottery, and in-store free play is good for any Michigan Lottery retailer.

First Deposit Bonus

After you register with the Michigan Lottery, your first two deposits of $25 or more or $5 shopping cart purchases qualify for the Welcome Offer. You receive $15 free to use on online games and a 50% deposit bonus that can net you up to $200.

Customer Support

If you need support, there are four options. Start with the FAQ section as it is packed with questions, answers, and detailed visuals to help you.

  • Check the Michigan Lottery FAQ to see if your question has already been answered.

  • Live chat that you access from the bottom left corner

  • Submit a Ticket

  • Call 844-917-6325

Self-Exclusion & Player Safety

I've seen plenty of responsible gaming options, but Michigan Lottery's system is one of the best. Responsible Gaming brochures are available in Arabic, English, and Spanish.

Live chat support is completely confidential and available for Michigan residents by clicking "Live Chat" from the Responsible Gaming tab. Other confidential options for residents are:

  • Call 1-800-270-7117

  • Text 248-648-3363

Daily Spin to Win

Return each day and spin the Daily Spin to Win bonus wheel. Among the prizes are online and in-store free play coupon codes or entries into the $5,000 monthly giveaway.

Let's Play Giveaway

Watch for the selection of Let's Play Giveaway lottery games. Go to the promotions page, click on Let's Play Giveaway, and the list of games appears. When you play them, you earn entries into a monthly drawing for one of 50 bonus credits worth $100 each or the $5,000 monthly cash prize.

Big Cash 2nd Chance Jackpot

Finally, at the end of the month, 50 cents from every wager placed on a selection of Michigan Lottery games secures you one ticket for the monthly Big Cash 2nd Chance Jackpot. This jackpot is formed by taking a percentage of every bet placed during the month. To give you an idea of how much you can win, the December 2023 winner won $260,975.55.

Reward System

While there isn't a specific VIP program, players do receive a daily prize wheel spin and customized incentives in the My Coupons area of their account.

Banking Options & How It Works

While the Michigan Lottery doesn’t offer a ton of banking options, it does cover the basics. Let's take a look at the options to move money to and from your player account.

Deposits

One of the more popular deposit methods for MI Lottery is using game cards. It is important to note that online game cards cannot be reloaded.

When you want to add more funds, you must purchase a new one. You cannot add more than $500 to your balance per week using online game cards.

Withdrawals

The Michigan Online Lottery platform makes it simple to withdraw your winnings. There are multiple options, most of which will let you withdraw anywhere from $10 to $50,000.

If you're lucky enough to win an even larger prize, you may need to contact the platform to find out how to withdraw your winnings all at once, but that is a great problem to have!

Before your first withdrawal, you may need to submit the following documents

  • A color copy of a government-issued photo ID

  • A letter from your bank on official letterhead that has your full name, address, account number, and the bank’s routing number

  • A voided check that has your current address, account number, and the bank’s routing number

  • A copy of the front and back of your credit or debit card with all but the last four digits of the card number blacked out

Lottery Games

Michigan Lottery has 214 online slots, pull tabs, instant wins, specialty games, and lotteries. The slots, especially, are a pleasant surprise. You wouldn't expect an online lottery platform to have a game selection on par with real-money Michigan online casinos. There are 394 games in all, but some (Daily 3 and Daily 4 for example) require you to go to a retailer to purchase tickets. Of the online lotteries, the ones below are among the most popular.

Fantasy 5

The jackpot in Michigan's Fantasy 5 is $100,000, and you have to have all five matching numbers to win. Four matching numbers award a $100 prize. This game has a Double Play feature that increases the jackpot to $110,000.

Lotto 47

Only Michigan offers Lotto 47, a $+ lottery with two weekly drawings (Wednesday and Saturday at 7:29 p.m.). Matching all six numbers awards the jackpot. Five numbers lead to a $2,500 prize. After a jackpot win, Lotto 47 resets to $1 million and grows from there until the next win.

Lucky for Life

Lucky for Life is a lottery game available in 26 states and Washington, D.C. If your five numbers plus the Lucky Ball are drawn during the 10:38 p.m. drawing, you win $1,000 per day for life. A match of just five numbers awards $25,000 per year for life. Multiple winners can reduce the size of these prizes as you split them.

Mega Millions With Megaplier

Players in 45 states, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Washington, D.C. compete for the jackpot in Mega Millions. Matching five white balls and the mega ball leads to the jackpot, but you can play the megaplier and win $5 million with five white balls. The largest Mega Millions win to date happened in 2023, and Saltines Holdings won $1.602 billion.

Powerball

Powerball is one of the best-known lotteries as it's available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. If you're lucky enough to win, the jackpot is massive and has no guaranteed minimum starting point. The largest Powerball win to date won $2.04 billion in 2022. Three weekly drawings are held (Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday) at 10:59 p.m.

Michigan Lottery Online Lottery Odds

Michigan Lottery makes it easy to find the odds on many of their games and lotteries. Click on a game or lotto and scroll to the bottom to bring up the charts for the different odds.

They're broken down by overall odds or odds based on how many numbers match. Here are some of the more popular lottos and the overall odds of winning. Overall odds include all prize levels, not just the jackpots.

  • Fantasy 5 – 1: 9 or 1: 5 (EZ Match)

  • Lotto 47 – 1: 47 or 1: 5 (EZ Match)

  • Lucky for Life – 1: 8

  • Mega Millions Jackpot – 1: 24

  • Michigan Lottery Loot – 1: 4.75

  • Powerball Jackpot – 1: 25 or 1: 24.87 (Double Play)

How to Claim Your Lottery Winnings

How you claim your prize depends on how much you’ve won. If your winnings are $600 or less, they will automatically be added to your wallet. Prizes greater than $600 require additional steps, and you may have to check for notifications to see if you've won.

  • Instant Win Prizes: Winnings are presented instantly before you leave the screen on your mobile device or computer.

  • Drawings: Notifications are sent to your account after the drawing.

Collect them when you’re ready by accessing the “Tax Reported Prizes” section of your account. Anything marked “Not Started” is waiting for you to claim it. Here are the steps to follow.

  • Click the “Submit Claim” button

  • Read the “Review Claim Policy”

  • Click “Continue”

  • Enter your SSN

  • Electronically sign the form by reading and checking the boxes

  • Click “Submit”

The funds will be added to your wallet immediately. When prizes are over $600 and the transaction is complete, a W2-G tax form is added to your account. You'll need those forms when you file your yearly taxes.

Additionally, winners are welcome to claim prizes of $600 to $99,999.99 at a Michigan Lottery claim center by stopping in during business hours or by scheduling an appointment (1-844-917-6325). Prize redemption is also available by mail by printing out and completing a PDF form.

Prizes of $100,000 or greater may only be redeemed at the Michigan Lottery headquarters at 101 E. Hillsdale in Lansing.

You must bring your Social Security card and a passport, driver's license, or other government-issued photo ID. It's also required that you schedule an appointment by calling 1-844-887-6836 and selecting option #2.
