Connecticut Online Casino September 2023

Connecticut Online Casinos are Legal
Online gambling is finally legal in Connecticut!
Governor Ned Lamont signed the bill (passed by the Connecticut House) into law at the end of May 2021. Now, you can legally play casino games online — and place sports bets through the internet.
Find out which casinos can legally operate online in the Constitution State, where to play online, and how to gamble if you’re a Connectican transplant that no longer lives within state borders.
Are Online Casinos Legal in Connecticut?
Yes! As of May 2021, online gambling is now legal in Connecticut.
At the end of the month, the Connecticut House voted to legalize online gambling (including sports betting, online casinos, and lottery ticket sales). The House voted in favor of online gambling of 122-to-21.
It’s expected that the two land-based casinos in Connecticut (Foxwoods Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino, owned by the local Mashantucket Pequots and Mohegan Native American tribes, respectively) should be able to offer legal gambling and gaming as of this year.
The decision was made after both casinos (and CT Lottery sales) experienced losses in revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As in regular casinos, you must be at least 21 to play, and you must be geographically located within the state to gamble online legally. (Online casinos use geo-trackers to ensure you are where you say you are.)
Connecticut Online Casinos Regulation
Both Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casinos are regulated by independent commissions as both the Mohegan and Mashantucket Pequot tribes are sovereign nations; it’s expected that both commissions will oversee online gambling as well — especially since Connecticut is not home to any non-tribal casinos.
The Connecticut Lottery is regulated by the Department of Consumer Protection, and online sales are expected to be overseen by this department.
The decision made by the House was also in response to the Federal regulation that was struck down in 2018; though, Connecticut is not the first to respond to this act. States such as Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey have already voted to change such laws.
Online Casino Games in Connecticut
The good news is that both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun have been around for decades; this means that they’ve already mastered the in-person art of slots, card games, dice, and sports betting.
Since both casinos opened, the technology available for online gambling has exploded. Many companies now offer online experiences that get gamblers as close as possible to an in-person experience — without actually stepping foot on a casino floor.
Both casinos are expected to offer world-class online experiences for customers that work seamlessly with in-person ones. Most online casinos allow you to transfer your rewards from brick-and-mortar casinos right to your online account (as well as your casino cage balance!).
Best Connecticut Online Casinos
The two main casinos that are expected to offer online gaming are Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods. While these two casinos are located on Native American tribal lands, they also serve residents as far away as New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
While you will need to be physically located in Connecticut to play casino games for real money online (casinos use geo-tracking technology to ensure you’re physically located within the state), visitors (especially those from the Tri-State Area) can also enjoy online gaming when they’re visiting.
Foxwoods Casino
Foxwoods was the first of two tribal casinos to open in Connecticut. When it debuted in 1986, it was the first form of legal casino gambling in the state. Today, Foxwoods features nearly 6,500 slot machines, more than 250 card tables, celebrity-backed restaurants, a buffet, and an onsite hotel.
It also hosts famous musicians and comedians weekly.
Mohegan Sun Casino
Though Mohegan Sun Casino opened a decade after Foxwoods, it’s considered no less extraordinary to gambling enthusiasts.
Its number of slot machines and card tables rival Foxwoods’. It’s also home to a Todd English restaurant as well as a buffet and hotel.
Can You Win Real Money in Connecticut Online Casinos?
Yes! The whole point of offering real-money gambling in Connecticut was to offer — real money payouts!
Until the House vote in 2021, the only way Connecticans could legally gamble online was to play at free online money casinos. Now, locals can choose to play online at either free online casinos or real money casinos.
Connecticut Real Money Casinos
Real money casinos are where you can deposit, play with, and withdraw real money. They’re the closest thing you can get to an in-person casino floor experience. If you’ve ever gambled at a casino, a real money casino will be a relatively familiar experience to you.
You must be at least 21 to play, and you must be physically located in Connecticut. To prove your age, you must submit some verification (including possibly your social security number). You must also download geo-tracking software onto your device to prove you are where you say you are.
Free Online Casinos
Free online casinos are similar to real money casinos. You’ll deposit and withdraw money the same way you would at other online casinos.
The biggest difference is the currency you play with. Since not all states have legalized online gambling, you’ll need to purchase virtual currency (usually gold coins or sweeps) to gamble. You’ll use this virtual currency throughout the entirety of your experience at these casinos.
When it’s time to withdraw your winnings, you can do so by cashing out real money or cashing out your winnings in gift cards or prizes (depending on the casino).
Connecticut Online Casino Promo Codes
One of the best parts about playing at online casinos is all the bonuses you can get — just for playing!
Online casinos generally offer generous welcome, login, weekly, and holiday bonuses. You’ll also notice that many casinos also offer VIP and rewards program bonuses too.
Welcome Bonuses
Welcome bonuses are some of the most popular bonuses offered by online and free casinos. These are the bonuses you can collect only when you make your first deposit or when you sign up for an account.
The two main types of welcome bonuses include deposit-match and no-deposit bonuses. Yet, you can also claim no-risk plays too.
Deposit Match Bonuses
Deposit match bonuses are slightly self-explanatory: online casinos will match the money you deposit into your account on your first deposit. Generally, this deal is only good for your first deposit, so you’ll want to transfer the max amount of money into your account to truly take advantage of this bonus.
Casinos generally have a deposit-match limit, so you can only get a certain amount matched on your first deposit or on sign-up (for example, some casinos will only match up to $100 or $200).
No-Deposit Bonuses
No-deposit bonuses don’t require a deposit. Simply use a promo code or an affiliate link to receive your bonus — and start playing right away. These bonuses are usually offered when you first sign up for an account.
Weekly/Holiday Bonuses
Most online casinos offer ongoing promotions, such as weekly bonuses or holiday bonuses. These are often referred to as login bonuses, as you simply need to log in to your account to collect rewards.
Many casinos also offer ongoing promotions to entice gamblers to log on to their accounts on major holidays too.
VIP/Loyalty Rewards Programs
Most casinos offer some form of VIP/loyalty rewards program, too. Simply sign up for a free account, and start collecting extra rewards with each tier you reach!
Do I Need a Promo Code?
It depends. Once we have more information on Mohegan Sun’s and Foxwoods’s online casino platforms, we’ll know if you need a promo code to take advantage of welcome bonuses.
Generally, online casinos work with casino review platforms such as OddsSeeker to promote promo codes and signup bonuses. As soon as one or both casinos have promo codes and affiliate links, we’ll post them right here on our site!
Online Casino Deposits and Withdrawals
Online casinos make it really easy to deposit and withdraw funds.
If you’re playing games at a free casino, you’ll be able to make deposits similarly to how you’d make them through real money casinos; making withdrawals is a little different, though. Most casinos don’t offer the option for funds to be available same-day for online gambling.
How to Make a Deposit
Making a deposit is very easy at online casinos. Simply choose your deposit method (usually debit card, credit card, ACH bank transfer, Skrill, or online payment processing, such as PayPal) and deposit funds.
Funds should be available in your account immediately after depositing them.
Making Withdrawals
Depending on the online casino, your winnings should be available within a few business days.
Free online casinos payout in real cash (ACH bank transfer or Skrill payment), and free casinos that offer rewards in the form of gift cards and other prizes will send winnings by mail or email (usually within a few days to weeks of withdrawal).
Real money online casinos generally offer ACH bank transfer, Skrill, online payment, or paper checks. Some casinos make funds available within a few hours to a few business days (depending on your bank). Paper checks may take up to two weeks to arrive.
